Slate Roof in Lealholm. Full re-roof & Velux installation

The roof was fully replaced using Cupa R-12 premium Spanish slate, installed with a combination of copper nails and slate hooks. The slate hook fixing system was carefully selected to maximise durability and long-term performance, particularly due to the property’s exposed location and increased exposure to adverse weather conditions.

As part of the works, the roof glazing was upgraded, with four existing pine Velux roof windows replaced by three new pine Velux units and one polyurethane Velux. This upgrade enhances thermal efficiency, weather resistance, and overall longevity, while maintaining a high-quality finish.

The roofing works were completed with new clay angle-capped ridge tiles, bedded on mortar and mechanically fixed in line with current building regulations to provide improved wind resistance and structural integrity. In addition, the entire property was re-pointed, and the barge boards were professionally prepared and painted, delivering a refreshed exterior and long-lasting protection.
