HISTORIC WALLS

Historic Walls- Scarborough

The ‘Lounge Site’ Sunken Garden at Harcourt Place, Scarborough is a location of notable historic and archaeological importance, forming part of the town’s historic centre. The site retains elements of the original structure demolished in 1939, including surviving brickwork and a historic fireplace set within the walls.

These remnants were found to be structurally unsound and required careful, sensitive repair. Our team, experienced in the conservation and restoration of historic buildings, carried out the works using appropriate techniques and materials to stabilise and preserve the original fabric.

By strengthening the structure while respecting its historic character, we have ensured these important remains will endure for generations — helping to protect and celebrate Scarborough’s built heritage.
