Robin Hoods Bay Musuem
We began the restoration of the Robin Hood’s Bay Museum in 2022. The project started with replacing the roof to ensure the building was watertight. We then carried out a complete interior refurbishment, which included installing new floors, damp-proofing the walls, re-plastering throughout, and fully refitting the museum’s interior.
Once the interior was complete, we moved outside to replace all the cast iron guttering and began repointing the masonry. The mortar was carefully removed by hand before being replaced with hot-mixed lime mortar—replicating the original material used and providing essential protection for the long-term preservation of the building.
Following the restoration, Philip Haigh, Chairman of the Fylingdales Museum & Archive Trust, shared his feedback:
“Waring was our chosen partner for this work, and the results are absolutely top-notch. Not only did The Warings complete every aspect of the project, but they also took on the challenge of operating in the lower Bay area without hesitation. They were mindful of the historic nature of the Grade II listed building they were restoring, while also remaining considerate of the holidaymakers nearby, ensuring minimal disruption to the surrounding cottages. The results speak for themselves. The Warings have played a significant part in preserving the museum for generations to come—an achievement to be proud of. Thank you, Warings.”
